Recently I have received e-mails from prospective applicants desiring information regarding the interview process. The interview is designed to provide TFA with the opportunity to get to know you better. Here are a few pointers: 1. Keep your lesson simple. Do not try to shove a one and a half hour discussion on WWII into 5 minutes. Think of BASIC concepts that are part of bigger ideas. 2. Be yourself! Don't drive yourself crazy about the 5 minute teaching thing. Remember it is just one part of a long interview. 3. The interview is with other people applying, which I thought was cool because I was able to see all the creativity that the other applicants had to offer TFA. You may even make a new friend. Enjoy the process and SMILE! 4. I can't tell you what the interview is exactly like, but looking back I can understand why it seemed so challenging. Teaching is hard and if the interview doesn't provide a slight glimpse into the pressure you will live every day for two years then they are simply wasting your time. Good luck to you. I am inspired by the e-mails I have received from new applicants. It reminds me of why I decided to do this in the first place. I didn't do this to "fill time" or to add something to my resume but to be part of a mission the believes that, "One day all children in this nation will have the opportunity to receive an excellent education."
